Themes and branding

Shopify-style Liquid themes, built for B2B

If your team or agency has built a Shopify theme, they already know how to build yours. Same Liquid, same folders, same object names. The B2B parts, like account prices and checkout, drop in with one tag.

Shopify skills, B2B storefront

  • The Liquid you already write

Shopify’s folders, objects, tags and filters. Sections with {% schema %}, theme blocks, snippets with {% render %}, and image_url, image_tag and money.

  • B2B in one tag

Place the purchase panel, product grid, cart and quick order with {% component %}. Account prices, quantity breaks and checkout just work.

  • Your agency or ours

Start from our Base theme in your colours, have your own developers build on it, or have our implementation partners design one that matches your brand exactly.

How it fits together

A theme decides how your storefront looks. Prices, the cart, checkout, quotes and orders are ours, so a theme can place and style them but never break them.

Your theme

Liquid in Shopify’s folders

  • Sections, blocks and snippets layout/theme.liquid and the rest
  • Theme settings Up to six colour schemes, fonts and layout
  • Platform components Purchase panel, cart, quick order, forms
TierCommerce

The TierCommerce storefront

  • Renders each page for the signed-in account
  • Shows prices only to people allowed to see them
  • Keeps your pages and menus when you change theme
  • Leaves out a broken section, not the whole page

Where buyers see it

Your look, everywhere they order

  • Every storefront page On phones, tablets and desktops
  • Checkout In your colours and logo, with no theme code
  • Each storefront you run A theme published per storefront

How it works

From a section file to a live storefront, and more than one if you need it.

  1. 1

Write sections the way you already do

Sections declare their settings, blocks and presets in {% schema %}, as on Shopify. Objects carry the B2B data Shopify developers expect, such as customer.current_company and variant.quantity_price_breaks, priced for whoever is signed in.

    • product, collection, customer, cart, linklists, routes and settings
    • Prices in cents, and nil for anyone who can’t see them
    • The Section Rendering API, with ?section_id= and ?sections=
  2. 2

Edit in the browser, or on your own machine

Edit code opens every file in the theme. Compare with Base shows what you changed, Revert to Base undoes it, and each file keeps its last 20 saves. Or download the theme as a zip, work locally and upload it again.

    • Every file checked when it’s saved
    • An AGENTS.md in every download, for a developer or an AI coding tool
    • Base updates merged into the files you’ve changed
  3. 3

    Customise without touching code

Your marketing team arranges the header, footer and page layouts in Customise, the way they would in Shopify’s theme editor. Colour schemes warn when text and background are too close to read.

    • Click anything in the preview to jump to it
    • A layout of its own for any category
    • Up to six colour schemes, with contrast warnings
  4. 4

    Preview it, then publish it

Work on a draft while buyers keep using the live theme. Preview it yourself, or send a private preview link that works for 7 days. Publish it when it’s ready, to one storefront or several.

    • Up to 20 themes
    • Private preview links, valid for 7 days
    • Publish per storefront
  5. 5

    Run more than one brand

On larger plans, run several storefronts from one TierCommerce account, each with its own theme, domain and range, sharing one connection to your ERP.

    • A storefront per brand or division
    • Each with its own catalogue and customers
    • One ERP connection behind them all

What a Shopify developer will recognise

The Liquid reference in our help centre lists every object, filter, tag and component a theme can use.

  • layout/theme.liquid, sections/, blocks/, snippets/, assets/ and config/
  • {% schema %} with settings, blocks and presets
  • {% section %}, {% sections %} and {% content_for 'blocks' %}
  • {% render %} and {% paginate %}
  • image_url, image_tag, money and asset_url
  • The Section Rendering API
  • Upload or download a theme as a zip
  • Editor events, like tc:section:load

More for developers

Themes are one part of it. Storefront scripts and events, a REST API with an OpenAPI spec, signed webhooks and buyer apps let your developers connect TierCommerce to everything else.

Themes and branding questions

Can a Shopify theme developer work on TierCommerce?

Yes. Themes are Liquid in Shopify’s folders, with Shopify’s object names, {% schema %}, theme blocks, {% render %} and Shopify’s filters. The B2B parts, such as account prices and checkout, are placed with {% component %}.

Can we upload a theme we already have?

You can upload a theme as a zip in Shopify’s folders. Sections, blocks, snippets, assets and settings come across. Buying parts such as the cart, quotes and checkout are ready-made components, so your theme places them and we keep them working.

Will updates to Base overwrite our changes?

No. Files you haven’t changed take the new version, and your changes are merged into the ones you have. Bigger updates arrive as a draft copy of your theme, so nothing changes for buyers until you publish it.

Can the storefront match our brand?

Yes. Start from our Base theme in your colours and logo, build on it with your own developers, or have our implementation partners design one for you. We set up your logo and your own domain with you.

Can we run more than one brand?

Yes. Several storefronts and brands come with our larger plans, each with its own theme.

Can we have B2B and B2C storefronts?

Yes. Run B2B only, or B2B and B2C from one catalogue.
